Daniel Farke to fast-track Danilho Doekhi transfer after latest news at Leeds

Leeds United have made one signing for Daniel Farke in the winter transfer window so far.

Facundo Buonanotte has arrived at Elland Road on loan until the end of the season after cutting short his stint at Chelsea from Brighton & Hove Albion.

Harry Gray has joined Rotherham United on a temporary basis, while Jack Harrison has also been unveiled by Fiorentina as their new addition.

With fans desperate to see more incomings at the West Yorkshire outfit, Farke now has an evident priority in LS11.

Jaka Bijol hamstring injury dents plans at Leeds United

Union Berlin defender Danilho Doekhi is a target for Leeds, with Farke planning to sign him on a free transfer in the summer.

The Dutch centre-back’s current contract at the Bundesliga outfit expires at the end of the season, but the Elland Road hierarchy may have to fast-track a move in the coming days.

Farke has revealed ahead of the Whites’ game against Fulham on 17 January that Jaka Bijol may be out for some time due to a hamstring issue.

Speaking to the media via Graham Smyth on X, the German manager said, “Anton [Stach] has an adductor strain, we hope to have him back for Everton. Jaka [Bijol] has a hamstring strain, which may be a bit longer.”

Anton Stach has been a brilliant signing at Elland Road, and so has Bijol, who has become a key player since Farke’s switch to a back three.

While the West Yorkshire outfit may not have had plans to bolster their defence in January, they will surely have to change those plans and make a push for Doekhi or someone else.

Daniel Farke can’t be foolish after latest transfer news

Leeds have been planning on attacking additions for Farke in the coming weeks rather than defensive reinforcements, but that may need to change now.

With Sebastiaan Bornauw also facing a few fitness issues in recent weeks and Joe Rodon only returning from a knock in the last few matches, concerns will definitely heighten among supporters.

It surely won’t hurt the West Yorkshire outfit to sign a new centre-back just to be safe as they fight Premier League relegation.

Whether 49ers Enterprises will take heed and resolve the apparent issues with squad depth in LS11 remains to be seen.
