Daniel Farke to embarrass Paul Merson vs Liverpool as Leeds United on a roll

Liverpool could be in for another heartbreak against Leeds United in the Premier League on Thursday.

Daniel Farke’s team will travel to Anfield on 1 January, with the Whites on a five-game unbeaten run right now.

It wasn’t long ago that Arne Slot dropped points at Elland Road, with the West Yorkshire outfit making a comeback twice in an enthralling 3-3 draw on 6 December.

The Peacocks will surely be looking to pull off something special in Merseyside this time around, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin in red-hot form.

Paul Merson predicts Liverpool win vs Leeds United

Paul Merson has acknowledged that Leeds “are on a roll” at the moment, yet Liverpool have been deemed favourites for the clash.

Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike’s form seems to have influenced the former England international’s prediction that the home side will get the three points at Anfield.

Farke will definitely want to prove Merson wrong, with the Whites boasting an in-form Calvert-Lewin, who has scored in six consecutive league matches, and the likes of Ethan Ampadu, Anton Stach and Jaka Bijol, who have been instrumental to the German manager’s success.

The ex-Arsenal attacker expects the Reds to win 3-1 against the West Yorkshire outfit, but that’s arguably an insult to how the two teams have performed recently.

Farke has revealed Joe Rodon will be out with an injury for a while, but the Peacocks have enough quality at their disposal to be solid in Merseyside.

While Liverpool have won their last three league matches, they haven’t been convincing, and the former Everton striker will certainly look to capitalise on their defensive woes and score in his seventh consecutive game.

Elland Road faithful right to fume with supercomputer prediction vs Liverpool

Liverpool are the heavy favourites to beat Leeds, with Opta’s supercomputer giving Slot a 70 per cent chance of beating Farke.

Considering how well the German manager has been adjusting his system in recent matches, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Whites put on another exciting show at Anfield.

Even if Farke gets his tactics wrong in the first half, he’s shown he’s capable of turning things around after the break.

It’s insulting to see the West Yorkshire outfit being given no chance ahead of their trip to Merseyside, but that’s what will make a positive result even sweeter in LS11.
