Daniel Farke to backtrack on Danilho Doekhi transfer after recent Leeds United revelation
Leeds United have been credited with interest in several new defenders already in January.
Daniel Farke watched his side beat Fulham 1-0 on Saturday, as the Whites gained another vital three points in the push for Premier League survival.
Leeds were without Jaka Bijol in the match, but still kept a clean sheet after Lukas Nmecha sealed a late winner at Elland Road.
Danilho Doekhi has gained the attention of Leeds in recent weeks, but Farke may now intervene and ask that the recruitment team look elsewhere.
James Justin was commanding in centre-back vs Fulham
Danilho would cost the Whites a pretty penny, with Union Berlin valuing their defender at over £10million.
Leeds are still facing financial constraints in the January window and could seek further loan deals, as seen in Facundo Buonanotte’s arrival.
However, the 49ers may spend their money in positions other than defence, because Farke has found another great centre-back option in James Justin.
- The Whites signed Justin in the summer to provide Jayden Bogle with competition at right-back
- He cost Leeds £10m
- Justin has started five Premier League matches for Farke
Central defence is a position that’s foreign to Justin, but he looked at home there against Fulham.

Considering the Whites are limited to what they spend in January, it’d be a no-brainer for funds to be saved regarding a potential push for Doekhi.
However, Farke’s opting to start Justin in the position was interesting for more than one reason.
Sebastiaan Bornauw’s time at Leeds surely almost up
Sebastiaan Bornauw has been tipped for an early Leeds exit after his £5million move from Wolfsburg in the summer.
The centre-half has struggled for minutes since arriving at LS11, despite coming to Elland Road with the high reputation of being a regular starter in the Bundesliga.

Not many would have thought that Farke would go for Justin to start in centre-back, considering Bornauw’s availability, but that’s what the Leeds boss did.
The 26-year-old could head back on loan to his former side, FC Koln, as it’s clear to see that he has little place in Farke’s plans.
Given the added physicality of Everton, who are next up in the Premier League, Bornauw may get one final chance to prove himself before the transfer deadline.
