Daniel Farke struck gold with Glen Kamara transfer decision at Leeds United after what he did for Finland v Northern Ireland

Leeds United midfielder Glen Kamara is growing every bit into a fan favourite after recent performances but his latest international display will have Daniel Farke beaming at his summer transfer decision.

The former Rangers man has seen his influence, class and stock in a Leeds United shirt grow considerably in recent weeks after some impressive showings, most notably in wins against Leicester City (3 November) and Plymouth (11 November).

Kamara has been far from disappointing since his £5million move from Ibrox [The Athletic, 31 August] but took his game to whole new levels in a stunning individual display from midfield against the table-toppers.

The Finland international was deservedly given the man-of-the-match award for his masterclass midfield performance, one which will have delighted the Whites bosses but will have completely blown away the Leeds United fans.

As per SofaScore, the former Rangers man successfully completed 89% of his passes, registered two key passes, won seven of his duels and successfully completed four dribbles to stun the Championship leaders.

Kamara also completed eight ball recoveries and successfully completed five passes into the final third to showcase how effective and influential he is at breaking up play but also becoming an influential component in linking up play between the defence and attack.

He followed that up with another stellar showing against Plymouth last weekend, registering an assist for Daniel James, successfully completing 92% of his passes, winning 100% of his ground duels, 100% of his aerial duels and winning two fouls.

Much has rightly been made of Ethan Ampadu’s impact since his arrival from Chelsea, and equally the emergence of 17-year-old Archie Gray.

But Kamara has equally been imperious in the middle and his latest performance at international level could well had Farke beaming with glee at what he sealed this summer.

Finland ran riot as they thumped Northern Ireland 4-0 on Friday night (17 November) – a game which saw Kamara register another assist and completely run the show in midfield, winning four duels, completing 75% of his passes, completing two dribbles and laying on a key pass (SofaScore).

It’s easy to see why he was largely a fan favourite at Ibrox for a spell because of his unique qualities in possession and it’s why Leeds United certainly won the market at just £5m for a very experienced and masterful individual.

If Kamara can keep up these sort of levels from midfield, there’s no reason why Farke’s men can’t catch up to the likes of Leicester City and Ipswich and give them a full-blown challenge for the top two spots.

For now though, Leeds United are in excellent hands.
