Daniel Farke signed off on Leeds United summer transfer masterstroke after what Glen Kamara did v Leicester City

Daniel Farke certainly signed off on one crucial masterstroke at Leeds United during the summer in Glen Kamara after his superb individual performance against Leicester City.

The Whites ended Leicester City’s nine-game winning run in the Championship with an impressive 1-0 victory at the King Power Stadium on Friday evening (3 November) with Georginio Rutter grabbing the second-half winner in the 58th minute.

The result means Leeds, who came down from the Premier League with the Foxes last season, cut the gap between the two sides to 11 points and consolidated their third-place position in the table.

While Rutter received all the plaudits for his winner, Kamara turned in an absolute masterclass in midfield for Farke and drew deserved praise from the media and fans, with TEAMtalk journalist and Leeds fan James Marshment, left blown away by the £5m man.

Taking to his personal Twitter account (3 November) after Friday’s Championship showpiece, he posted: “And I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again. Glen Kamara. Utterly superb and an absolute steal for £5m. As a midfielder, he’s pretty much the complete package.”

Kamara has been far from disappointing since his £5million move from Ibrox [The Athletic, 31 August] but he really showed why he’s an absolute bargain buy in a stunning individual display from midfield against the table-toppers.

The Finland international was deservedly given the man-of-the-match award for his masterclass midfield performance, one which will have delighted the Whites booses but will have completely blown away the Leeds United fans.

As per SofaScore, the former Rangers man successfully completed 89% of his passes, registered two key passes, won seven of his duels and successfully completed four dribbles to stun the Championship leaders.

Kamara also completed eight ball recoveries and successfully completed five passes into the final third to showcase how effective and influential he is at breaking up play but also becoming an influential component in linking up play between the defence and attack.

Much has rightly been made of Ampadu’s impact since his arrival from Chelsea, and equally the emergence of 17-year-old Archie Gray.

But Kamara was imperious in the middle as he regularly broke up play and was always open to receive possession and kickstart attacking moves for the Whites in the build-up and in transition.

It’s easy to see why he was largely a fan favourite at Ibrox for a spell because of his unique qualities in possession and it’s why Leeds United certainly won the market at just £5m for a very experienced and masterful individual.

Farke certainly signed off on an absolute masterstroke during the summer.
