Daniel Farke shares transfer anxiety verdict on Leeds United exits

Daniel Farke has admitted that Leeds United will have to make “smart decisions” should the exit of any of their star players come to fruition this summer.

This comes after the likes of Willy Gnonto and Crysencio Summerville have been consistently linked with a move away from West Yorkshire this summer.

Farke spoke to Leeds Live on 29 July and stated that “no anxiety” can be shared about the future of their star men.

“If you are working with anxiety in this business, then you are in the wrong position,” he said. “We know we are, at the moment, not PSG (Paris Saint-Germain) or Real Madrid, we can’t just afford each and every player,” he said.

“We spoke, quite openly and honestly, about the past forcing us into situations where we have, sometimes, to think about the financial situation, within the rules.

“For that, yes, perhaps our hands are a little bit more tied than some other clubs. We need to be there with smart decisions and, overall, no anxiety because there are many players who want to play for this Leeds shirt.

“If one or two players leave, I am pretty sure we will find some good solutions. I hope, at the moment, our best solutions stay.”

Leeds United need to keep Willy Gnonto and Crysencio Summerville

Of all the players in Leeds’ team, Summerville and Gnonto are the two who have been most linked with an Elland Road exit this summer.

The pair have had a plethora of interested clubs vying for their transfer but no moves have yet occurred.

Summerville’s interest mainly came at the start of the window [Ben Jacobs, 24 June] when the Whites needed a big sale whilst Gnonto still has strong ongoing interest from Everton [Caught Offside, 26 July].

If Farke can manage to keep both or even one of the duo, they would improve their chances of promotion tenfold.

Summerville was the Championship Player of the Season in 2023/24 and rightly so.

His versatility alongside his keen eye for goal and range of passing are second to none and make the attacker a key cog in Farke’s side.

Whilst nothing is yet set in stone, it would be a surprise to see both players in West Yorkshire when it comes to the end of the window.
