Daniel Farke set for unhappy Leeds memories as announcement made for Nottingham Forest match
With the rush of deadline day over, even if there was not too much happening at Elland Road, attentions turn back to the Premier League ahead of Leeds’ clash with Nottingham Forest.
Daniel Farke only managed to get one signing over the line, and despite the English window closing, Illan Meslier could still be on his way out.
However, Farke will have his sights set on the huge match on Friday evening as Nottingham Forest come to LS11.
It is a relegation six-pointer, with both sides on 26 points and six points clear of West Ham in 18th place.
However, this match could potentially see one or even both slip further into the battle to stay up.

Premier League make referee announcement for Leeds vs Nottingham Forest
Leeds United take on Nottingham Forest on 6 February with an 8pm kick-off time, with Leeds looking to bounce back from the 4-0 defeat to Arsenal.
Farke will be hoping to avoid a repeat of the reverse fixture, as despite the Peacocks going 1-0 up after 13 minutes, it was the Tricky Trees who came out as 3-1 winners.
The Leeds manager was not impressed with the officiating on the day, blasting the referee for making a “big mistake” leading to Forest’s second goal.
Farke believed Stach was fouled, and not the German committing an offence, claiming he was “the only one in the stadium who saw the foul on Stach was a foul against him”.
Forest would score from the free-kick after punting the ball long.
On Friday, there may be more discontent from the Leeds manager as Peter Bankes has been announced as the referee.
Bankes was the subject of complaints by Farke against Manchester City earlier in the season.
The Leeds United manager felt that Gianluigi Donnarumma was deliberately wasting time as the Whites sought an equaliser.
The goalkeeper was already on a yellow card at that point of the game as Leeds came back from two goals down but still lost 3-2.
How has Peter Bankes fared refereeing Leeds United games?
Bankes has refereed 22 games involving Leeds United throughout his time as an official.
In those games, the referee does slightly favour Leeds in terms of bookings and awarding penalties. However, he is less lenient when it comes to blowing up for fouls.
| Statistic | Offences committed by Leeds | Offences committed against Leeds |
| Fouls per game | 12.5 | 12.82 |
| Fouls per tackle | 0.58 | 0.73 |
| Yellow cards per game | 2.18 | 2.36 |
| Red cards per game | 0.05 | 0.05 |
| Penalties per game | 0.05 | 0.14 |
Overall, it paints the picture of a referee who should not give Farke too much to complain about, but that game against Manchester City may stick in his head.
With huge consequences on the line in Friday’s game, let’s hope the referee plays a cameo role, rather than being the star of the show.
