Daniel Farke only has one man to blame for what has happened at Leeds

Leeds United have hit a bump in their promotion bid, having won just one of their last five Championship encounters.

At one point not so long ago, it seemed nailed on that Leeds would be getting promoted, but a series of poor results have started to cast a shadow of doubt at Elland Road.

A 2-2 draw at home to Swansea City saw Leeds drop two more points, with Sheffield United able to retain their spot at the summit of the division and Burnley now level on points with the Whites.

With seven huge games to go, Daniel Farke’s side still have promotion in their own hands, but a failure to achieve that would amplify the spotlight on one man’s failure in particular, and it isn’t Illan Meslier.

Farke is setting himself up for failure at Leeds

Meslier has been a talking point all season, with his errors in the Swansea clash showcasing exactly why he needs to be dropped for the final run-in.

However, Farke still hasn’t made that decision, and he will be the only one to blame if Leeds fail to get promoted.

His unwillingness to rotate a very strong squad has proven costly on several occasions, but his blind faith in his goalkeeper has cost the Whites far too many points throughout the season.

Meslier needs to be doing better, yet Farke seems incapable of spotting that, and continues to select him for each and every encounter.

The German is under serious pressure to get Leeds promoted, yet he keeps making the same errors every time the Whites step onto the pitch.

Meslier simply needs to be hooked at Leeds

Farke is the only man capable of getting Leeds back on track, and in order to achieve that, he needs to backtrack in his backing of Meslier and drop him for the good of the team.

You can see the frustration among his teammates when he drops a howler, and it has happened on far too many occasions for a side who should be winning the league in reality.

Their unwillingness to sign a keeper in January seemed questionable at the time, and should they fail to get promoted, it will be an error that is looked back upon for a long, long time.
