Daniel Farke must replace Brenden Aaronson with long-term Leeds United target
Brendan Aaronson may be surplus to requirements at Leeds United under Daniel Farke in the Premier League.
Anton Stach was superb for Leeds against Everton, completing 25 passes in the final third at Elland Road on 18 August.
Ethan Ampadu and Ao Tanaka made up the midfield trio, with the number 10 position no longer there for Aaronson in the starting lineup.
The USA international replaced Wilfried Gnonto in the second half of the 1-0 victory, playing on the left-wing, but Farke may be better off replacing him.

Sheffield United midfielder Gustavo Hamer a transfer target for Leeds United
Leeds have a long-standing interest in Sheffield United midfielder Gustavo Hamer, according to The Star.
The news outlet reports on 20 August that while the 28-year-old is content at Bramall Lane, he could be tempted to make a move to the Netherlands.
It’s been claimed that the Blades would be open to selling the former Coventry City ace if they get an offer they can’t refuse.
Hamer has been linked with a move to Elland Road this summer, and it looks like the Whites still have an opportunity to sign him in the final weeks of the transfer window.
Aaronson vs Hamer: Who was better in the Championship last season?
Farke may not have space for Aaronson to play in his natural position this season, and it would make sense to find a replacement for him.
With the Sheffield United midfielder used to playing on the left-wing at Bramall Lane, the German manager should push for his arrival.
Leeds could use Premier League football to entice Hamer to LS11 before the end of August, and it will certainly be worth it.
Championship (2024/25) | Aaronson | Hamer |
Appearances | 46 | 41 |
Goals | 9 | 9 |
Assists | 2 | 7 |
Big chances missed | 11 | 4 |
Big chances created | 9 | 11 |
Crosses | 0.7 (20.6%) | 0.3 (24.6%) |
While the Dutch national and Aaronson scored the same number of goals in the Championship last season, the Sheffield United star was much more clinical.
The 28-year-old was also a better creative force for the Blades than the American playmaker at Elland Road.
With Hamer going up and down the wings for the South Yorkshire outfit last season, Farke could undoubtedly do with someone of his qualities in LS11.
