Daniel Farke must do one thing at Leeds United or risk £40m mistake

Daniel Farke could make a costly error at Leeds United as the January window looms.

Farke has quietened sack rumours at Leeds with a series of excellent Premier League results in recent weeks.

The Whites looked to be staring relegation in the face, but after Leeds’ 4-1 win over Crystal Palace, there is now a six-point gap from the bottom three.

Leeds also secured a 3-1 victory over Chelsea, further bolstering their impressive Elland Road form and providing fans with plenty of optimism ahead of the winter window.

Issues could still be in the pipeline for Farke as a sizable financial error could be made moving into the January market and beyond.

Harry Gray could leave Leeds United for £40m

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been in stunning form for Leeds in recent weeks as his goalscoring exploits look to drag the LS11 outfit away from the drop zone.

The Englishman came under criticism earlier in the season, but is currently the go-to man for goals in West Yorkshire.

At 28, the ex-Everton man isn’t one for the future, and a succession plan is necessary if the Whites are to maintain their top-flight status for years to come.

Leeds have the ideal future option already in their ranks in the shape of Harry Gray.

The teen looks destined to continue his family tradition and star for the Whites after a terrific spell in the Thorp Arch academy sides.

His form has driven interest from Manchester City, with Pep Guardiola’s side potentially willing to pay £40million for the youngster’s services.

This leaves Farke with a dilemma moving into upcoming transfer windows, but there could be a simple answer in waiting.

Daniel Farke must afford Gray Premier League minutes

It may feel like a risk right now, but the elite are already eyeing the forward, so surely he’s worth a go in the LS11 first team.

Farke can start to introduce Gray more from the bench in the Premier League and try to integrate such a highly rated youngster into the senior squad.

If he doesn’t do that, there is every chance that the starlet’s development could stagnate, likely ending any interest in his signature.

That would see Leeds miss out on a potential £40m payday, while also losing the talent of one of their brightest academy prospects.

The German head coach must start trusting Gray; otherwise, he risks far too much, especially after such high scrutiny about his job already this season.
