Daniel Farke may no longer have any long-term need for Patrick Bamford at Leeds United after Georginio Rutter development
Daniel Farke may no longer have any real need for Patrick Bamford at Leeds United long-term after an exciting Georginio Rutter international development this past week.
The Frenchman has so far been the Championship’s creator-in-chief, registering five assists and more chances created than any other player in England’s second their, while also picking up three goals himself in his 15 matches so far.
His form hasn’t gone unnoticed either and was deservedly called up to the French under-21s squad (9 November) for the first time where he’ll now look to improve his game even further under Premier League legend and one of its greatest goalscorers Thierry Henry.
Henry is the current manager of France Under-21 squad and this is the first time he has picked the Leeds United striker since he took over the position in August.
Rutter has been criticised at times this year for lacking a clinical edge in front of goal, with the 21-year-old wasting a number of excellent chances, missing five big opportunities in the Championship so far and so far underperforming his xG of 4.97 [Fotmob].

The international break could well provide Rutter with the resources, learning and tools needed to iron out his problems in front of goal learning under one of the best footballers to ever grace the English game.
However, such a development may spell bad news for big-name Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford who has suffered an unfortunate decline this past year and has almost become an afterthought in Farke’s squad.
While his quality is undeniable, his injuries have clearly put a halt to his dominance of the Elland Road frontline, and a move away from Elland Road, Farke may feel could suit all parties involved.
The injuries and lack of fitness have put a huge dampener on Bamford’s abilities in front of goal and the characteristics needed to thrive in Daniel Farke’s high-intensity system, making him an expendable commodity at Elland Road.

With Rutter now set to surely improve his game in front of goal under the tutelage of Henry, Farke will almost have no need for Bamford’s services any longer and the former Middlesbrough man will not want to be rotting on the bench for the foreseeable future.
The Elland Road faithful would be sad to see him depart after five full seasons in Yorkshire, but it may be the best move for all parties including Farke.
