Daniel Farke likely biting his lip after unseen Paraag Marathe gesture in Leeds tunnel
Leeds United secured a magnificent 3-1 victory over Chelsea on Wednesday night to seemingly ease the pressure on boss Daniel Farke.
Jaka Bijol’s goal opened the scoring for Leeds, powering a header past Robert Sanchez after just six minutes at Elland Road.
Ao Tanka doubled the hosts’ lead just before the break, but Pedro Neto gave the Blues some hope early on in the second half, tapping in at the back post.
However, Dominic Calvert-Lewin made sure of the three points for Leeds, with referee Darren England waving away Chelsea’s claims of a foul on Sanchez in the build-up.
Daniel Farke will surely be fuming at Paraag Marathe
Going into the game against Chelsea, Farke was under huge sack pressure, with rumours swirling about his future at the club hours before kick-off.
Even after the win, reports emerged claiming Leeds are still identifying potential new managers as Farke’s job is still not certain.
Despite the ongoing speculation, according to Leeds Live in their unseen moments article, owner Paraag Marathe gave Farke a pat on the back while he was conducting his interviews following Wednesday night’s game in the tunnel area.
The fact that Marathe was even at the game hints that the hierarchy are contemplating a managerial change.
Farke will surely be annoyed at the Leeds owner, who is acting as if everything is good to his face, but then searching for his replacement behind the scenes.
It is quite clear Marathe is waiting for the moment he can shove Farke without any sort of backlash.
Farke sends his own message to Marathe
After all the talk around his future, Farke would have been delighted with the way his players performed in the win over Chelsea.
Leeds set up in the 5-3-2 formation that had so much success in the second half against Manchester City, and the new system worked wonders once again.
Farke has sent a real message to Marathe during his side’s last two games, showing that he has the tactical flexibility to keep the White’s in the Premier League.
The German has likely bought himself another few weeks in charge of the West Yorkshire club, and will hope that the good form continues.
