Daniel Farke Leeds United angst continues after Leo Hjelde injury blow

Leeds United boss Daniel Farke really can count himself as one of the most unlucky managers in world football right now.

The German perhaps knew what he was getting into when he took on the job this summer, but he would also have been aware of the legendary status awaiting should he be the man to take them back into the Premier League.

But the manager has got off to a poor start in this regard, drawing his first match 2-2 against Cardiff City before losing 1-0 to Birmingham City.

There has, at least, been some distraction to the Championship woes, with the Whites defeating Shrewsbury Town 2-1 in the League Cup first round.

But promotion to the top flight is undoubtedly the priority this season, a goal that has been made extremely difficult with the club’s current injury crisis.

As per Yahoo, senior stars Junior Firpo, Liam Cooper, Patrick Bamford, Crysencio Summerville, Tyler Adams and Stuart Dallas are all out injured.

Making matters more complicated is the side issue of trio Willy Gnonto, Luis Sinisterra and Helder Costa, who are all currently training away from the first team as they seek Elland Road exits.

All players are, therefore, unavailable for the upcoming league clash against West Brom on Friday (18 August), a match that Farke should be identifying as a moment where he can really get his Leeds tenure underway after the initial struggles.

But the boss has been dealt with another injury blow in the form of left-back Leo Hjelde, who suffered from concussion in training earlier this week, with English Football League (EFL) protocol rules dictating that he must sit out the clash with the Baggies, according to Yahoo.

In other Leeds United news, a Sky Sports pundit has delivered a “scandalous” verdict on an exit-linked Whites player.
