Daniel Farke has perfect solution to solve Leeds United’s attacking woes as ‘quality’ star emerges
Leeds United’s attacking threat has continuously come under scrutiny this season.
The Peacocks once again failed to find the back of the net on Saturday, as they fell to a 3-0 defeat to Brighton.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s arrival at Elland Road appears to be a failure, with the striker still only having one Premier League goal to his name since his summer move.
Now, with Nottingham Forest and West Ham beginning to pick up points, there is an increased emphasis for Daniel Farke to fix Leeds’ bluntness in front of goal once and for all.
Thankfully, the German made already have the solution right under his nose.

Joe Gelhardt continues to impress at Hull City
Leeds have plenty of players currently out on loan, and few will have impressed as much as Joe Gelhardt.
The 23-year-old returned to the Tigers in the summer, after a successful spell in the backend of the 2024/25 campaign.
Here, his form has continued, with the attacker netting six times in 13 Championship outings this season.
Many of these goals have come recently, with Gelhardt netting in his fourth consecutive game on Saturday as he scored the opener in Hull’s 2-0 win over Norwich City.
As a result, the Tigers manager has recently heaped praise on the attacker, telling Hull City after the 1-1 draw against Charlton on 25 October: “With great press on the ball and around the players, we took [won] the ball, and Joe scores an amazing goal.
“Joe has assists and goals, and that is his quality.”
Now, Farke simply must take a gamble and look to recall the attacker at the earliest opportunity.
Given the form he is in, adding a confident player to the lineup could add an extra bit of quality and flair to the front line.
Therefore, with many teams around Leeds returning to form, Gelhardt could prove to be the difference between relegation and survival between now and the end of the season.
Surely Farke will recognise this, and acknowledge that the Hull loanee would be more valuable back at Elland Road rather than his ability being utilised elsewhere.
What are Gelhardt’s stats this season?
According to Fotmob on 3 November, Gelhardt’s stats are extremely impressive this season.
In the Championship, per 90 minutes, the attacker is averaging 0.57 goals per game, with an xG of 0.37.
He is also offering a creative side, producing 0.86 successful crosses and 1.43 accurate balls.
| Joe Gelhardt’s stats this season | Per 90 minutes |
| Goals | 0.57 |
| xG | 0.37 |
| Shots | 3.15 |
| Assists | 0.10 |
| Accurate long balls | 1.43 |
| Successful crosses | 0.86 |
Therefore, it is clear that the attacker is currently one of the standouts in the Championship at present, as he continues to show Farke what he is missing.
