Daniel Farke has Archie Gray replacement right under his nose at Leeds United

Daniel Farke may have a perfect Archie Gray replacement at Leeds United in Charlie Crew after making his debut against Plymouth Argyle.

The Whites brushed the Pilgrims aside at Elland Road on Saturday 2 November thanks to first half goals from Dan James, Joel Piroe and Brendan Aaronson.

It was an easy victory for Farke and Co. as the away side failed to register a single shot which allowed Leeds to take their foot off the gas in the second half.

This allowed Crew come on for his first appearance for the club and he could represent an alternative to Gray who left for Tottenham in the summer.

It was certainly a blow to the Whites when the versatile midfielder made the move to the Premier League as Spurs made an irrefusable £30million offer [BBC Sport].

His ability to play across the midfield and at full back was a useful asset and would be particularly useful now without Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev due to injury.

With that being said, Farke may have found someone to step into that role in Crew who came on against Wayne Rooney’s struggling side with four minutes left on the clock.

The Wales international was only able to grab seven touches on the ball but was a useful exercise as he looks to find his feet in senior football.

At 18, the midfielder is comfortable in centre midfield or playing more defensively when needed which could make him a positive asset to the squad, especially when the fixture list piles up in the coming weeks and months.

There are plenty of pros for the youngster to learn from with Josuha Guilavogui coming in being a perfect example of someone to lean on the experiences of to become a better player.

It is an exciting time at Elland Road with supporters and Farke likely to be keen to see more of Crew moving forward.
