Daniel Farke going nowhere after latest Leeds United sack admission

Daniel Farke has no doubts about his future as Leeds United face Liverpool in the Premier League on Saturday.

The German manager’s position at the Whites has been under the scanner as the relegation battle heats up in LS11, with Arne Slot’s team their next opponents at home on 6 December.

Farke has managed to quell the noise after beating Chelsea at home on 3 December, and he seems confident about being at the West Yorkshire outfit for the foreseeable future.

While 49ers Enterprises still have managers on their radar at Elland Road, the former Norwich City boss doesn’t look to be bothered by all the reports.

49ers Enterprises convinced Daniel Farke to sign for Leeds United

It was the Leeds board that had to persuade Farke to take charge of the team in 2023.

The German manager revealed that he never applied for the job at Elland Road; rather, the Whites’ hierarchy came to him as they looked to win promotion back to the Premier League.

In the previous campaign, the 49-year-old head coach led the West Yorkshire outfit to the Championship title, and he now has aspirations of building something long-term in LS11.

Speaking to Sky Sports on 6 December, Farke said: “I’m not fighting for my job. I’m not wasting any energy thinking about myself. If you want to lead such a passionate club like Leeds, you have to focus all your energy to help the boys, to be a shield for the players and to protect them.”

The German manager added: “I did not apply for this job; our board convinced me two-and-a-half years ago to sign the contract. I’m not fighting for a job, I’m fighting for my boys. We are so desperate to be the first side in the last 25 years to establish this club in the top flight.”

Farke feels aggrieved by the recent recruitment at Elland Road, but there’s an argument that he could’ve walked away, as there was speculation around his future at the end of last season.

Premier League survival hinges on one Daniel Farke January signing

Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha’s partnership against Chelsea was brilliant, with the Whites eventually winning 3-1 on the day.

Leeds seem to have a partnership up front that could comfortably lead them to survival, but injuries could potentially derail that hope.

Farke’s Premier League record this season

The former Everton striker and the ex-VfL Wolfsburg ace have a history of fitness issues, and it would make sense for the West Yorkshire outfit to sign a new striker in the winter transfer window.

It doesn’t look like Farke trusts Joel Piroe or Harry Gray to lead the line, making the addition of a new number nine an undoubted priority in the coming weeks.
