Daniel Farke gets it all wrong with surprise Leeds claim ahead of Burnley clash
Daniel Farke still feels as though he is having to prove himself as Leeds United manager.
Leeds face Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday in what could be a pivotal game come the end of the season.
Both sides were promoted from the Championship last season, as Leeds have struggled financially to compete with other Premier League teams.
Despite this, Farke says he wants to keep Leeds up, but his latest comments may not go down too well with supporters.

Daniel Farke claims Leeds are the ‘underdogs’ vs Burnley
Leeds are away to Burnley at Turf Moor for their first of two clashes with Scott Parker’s side this season.
Whenever a side achieves promotion to the Premier League, they always look at the fixture list for games against fellow promoted sides as the best chance to grab three points
However, Farke‘s comments suggest otherwise, while he was speaking to Sky Sports News.
“All 38 Premier League games are big, you have to prepare, but now this is a chance for both teams to win some points,” he said.
Position | Team | Points |
15. | Leeds | 8 |
18. | Burnley | 4 |
“It’s definitely not a must-win game. It’s an away game for a newly promoted side; in an away game you are always the underdog at this level.
“Last season, Burnley had a fantastic season, 100 points. For us, they were our two most difficult games, so why should it be a must-win game?”
The attitude from Farke is the opposite of what Leeds fans will want to hear.
Leeds simply should be beating Burnley
Leeds have spent £100m in the summer transfer window and have a better quality squad than Burnley.
Both sides have faired decently considering the circumstances of being promoted to the Premier League, but Leeds should not be thinking they are the underdogs heading into this game.
Farke’s comments could suggest something to do with Leeds’ mentality this season, and if the Whites don’t come away with three points, the German coach could face heavy backlash for his words.
