Daniel Farke faces new Dan James dilemma after Leeds draw v Man United

Dan James was a second-half sub for Leeds in their goalless draw with Man United.

Leeds’ pre-season schedule got underway in Stockholm this afternoon, with Daniel Farke’s side holding Man United to a 0-0 draw, despite arguably having the best chances in the game.

The Whites looked composed on and off the ball, and fans were able to have a glimpse into several of the new arrivals at Elland Road.

However, a familiar dilemma will re-emerge for Farke ahead of their return to the Premier League, and it may be of concern to James.

Leeds cannot waste Willy Gnonto’s ability

In a game that lacked any real quality in the final third, Willy Gnonto was one of several players who stood out for Leeds on the right flank.

He linked up well with Jayden Bogle throughout the clash and provided several moments of quality that troubled the Man United defence.

However, James was a mainstay in the Championship last season, which prevented the Italian from getting any real look into the starting 11.

Farke simply has to find a way to ingratiate Gnonto into his side, and given his preference on starting on the right flank, the Leeds boss needs to identify who will occupy that area for the Whites this season.

Leeds still have work to do in transfer window

If there were two things to take away from today’s game, it was that Leeds are in dire need of a striker and potentially a creator.

Leeds got into some decent areas against the Red Devils, but struggled to find that decisive touch, which was often the issue last season, which again came down to the lack of a clinical finisher and poacher.

That simply has to be the priority for the Whites, with the season less than a month away.
