Daniel Farke could be sacked within 48 hours at Leeds as daunting stat emerges ahead of Man City clash

Man City’s record against promoted clubs will have Daniel Farke fearing for his job at Leeds United.

Relegation is a real possibility for Leeds, and that will only increase as the festive period truly gets underway in the coming weeks.

Leeds face Man City on Saturday, looking for their first win against the Citizens since 2021, when a Stuart Dallas brace sealed all three points in a 2-1 win.

However, with the Whites having proceeded to lose their following two encounters against City with an aggregate scoreline of 11-0, they will be fully aware of the task ahead, and its difficulty is only showcased by the fact that they rarely lose against teams coming up from the Championship.

Leeds have little to no hope of beating Man City

Leeds have won just three games so far this season, immediately showcasing how unlikely it is for them to get anything from their clash against Man City.

To throw another variable into the mix, Farke has only ever won nine games away from home as a Premier League manager.

Another one? Man City have won 23 of their last 25 encounters with newly-promoted sides in the top flight, though it was Leeds that inflicted their most recent defeat.

Marcelo Bielsa was the mastermind at work on that day, and it’s fair to say Farke does not have the same tactical fluidity that he had.

If Leeds do fall to defeat, and certainly if it’s a heavy one, there is every likelihood that Farke is sacked by the 49ers this weekend, and it would be a justified decision given the struggles they have demonstrated so far this season.

Leading candidate already named in case of Daniel Farke sack

Brendan Rodgers has emerged as the leading candidate for the Leeds job if Farke is to be sacked, having left Celtic earlier this year.

Rodgers, 52, has managed over 300 games of Premier League football, with 139 wins at various clubs.

While his best seasons have been with Celtic, the Northern Irish manager averaged 1.59 points per game at Leicester and 1.55 at Swansea, though several of those games were in the Championship.

Whether he would be open to a return to management one month after leaving Celtic remains to be seen, though it is one to keep an eye on.
