Daniel Farke clearly deluded after baffling take on Leeds’ survival chances

Daniel Farke insists that Leeds only need more six wins this season to survive the drop.

The Peacocks are into the relegation zone after they bottled a 1-0 lead against Aston Villa, to lose 2-1.

While the hosts were perhaps unlucky to lose, with Leeds having a late equaliser ruled out, it is yet another Premier League defeat.

Questions are starting to be asked of Farke at Elland Road, with many wondering if he is the man to lead them forward and to safety.

However, given his take on what Leeds need to do to survive, the manager may be delusional.

Daniel Farke: Leeds only need six wins and a few draws to stay up

While recent Premier League seasons have seen many poor showings in the fight to stay up, it appears that a high points tally may be needed to avoid the drop this time.

Apart from Wolves, many of the teams currently in and around the relegation zone have pulled off some great results this season, including Leeds.

Therefore, many points are likely needed to avoid the drop, especially given Nottingham Forest’s and West Ham’s recent upturn in form.

However, Farke does not believe the Peacocks need many more results to confirm their stay in the Premier League, insisting that only six wins and a few draws are required.

After the Villa defeat, the manager stated: “We need six more wins and a few draws to stay up. We still have home games against everyone around us to come.

“We have enough to get the points we need to stay up. Brave today, I liked that. Conceding too many goals down our left side.”

This is simply a baffling take. If Leeds were to get six wins and four draws between now and the end of the season, it would put them on 33 points.

This points total would see Leeds relegated in seven of the last 10 Premier League seasons.

Therefore, Farke’s claim is simply delusional, as the Peacocks would be extremely fortunate to stay up with only six more wins and a few draws.

Leeds’ terrible Premier League record against Aston Villa continues

The defeat on Sunday meant that Leeds are now winless in their last six meetings against Aston Villa in the Premier League.

In this time, they have lost four of these games, drawing the other two.

The only time this run has been longer was between 1930 and 1935, in a streak that lasted eight matches, according to BBC Sport on 23 November.

Luckily, Leeds will not have to play Villa until February, unless they meet each other in the FA Cup.
