Daniel Farke buys extra time at Leeds United amid telling full-time scenes vs Man City

Leeds United were clapped off the field by the their travelling fans for their efforts against Manchester City on Saturday.

Man City ran out 3-2 victors over Leeds on their own patch, but the Whites certainly gave their best shot at winning the game.

Daniel Farke has been under severe pressure at Leeds and needs to convince the 49ers that he is the man to steer the Whites to Premier League stability.

Despite the loss, Farke‘s players almost completed an entire turnaround after bringing the game back to 2-2, but received a late dagger in Phil Foden’s stoppage-time goal.

The post-match scenes haven’t been pretty in recent games, but the support shown by the Leeds faithful proves that Farke needs to be given more time.

Leeds fans cheered Daniel Farke and the players at full-time

The underlying data suggests that Farke doesn’t have long left at Leeds, but there’s no doubt that the German is doing everything he can.

The 49ers announced they will back Farke during the international break, but even so, the next couple of weeks will be crucial in determining the head coach’s fate.

Leeds’ updated Premier League record this season

Local journalist Graham Smyth was at the Etihad Stadium and picked out the noticeable differences in the post-match scenes compared to the Whites’ loss against Aston Villa last time out.

“No boos this week. Away end on its feet cheering the players as they go over,” Smyth posted.

The result was deflating, but the performance was inspiring.

Leeds showed they can upset bigger teams

Leeds want to stay in the Premier League, but Paraag Marathe and Co. know how difficult a task it is when coming into the top flight from the Championship.

Sure, Farke was brought to LS11 to bring promotion, but he knows the majority of this squad inside out. What would a new head coach bring?

New ideas? Maybe, but Farke has always turned things around at Elland Road when things have looked bleak in the past.

Leeds’ next three fixtures:

The Whites need to get behind their head coach, because it seems like he will be backed going into another few difficult fixtures, but survival simply cannot be ruled out at this stage.
