Daniel Farke accuses Leeds fans of being on one player’s back since the minute he arrived at Elland Road

Daniel Farke claims that Brenden Aaronson has faced criticism since the minute Leeds signed him.

Leeds face tough Premier League opposition against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday in what is shaping up to be not only a nightmare for supporters, but for Farke too.

The 49ers are monitoring Farke, and it seems like the German’s time at LS11 could soon be up, with pressure increasing on the need for results.

Aaronson has been slammed for poor performances all season long, but Farke has continued to back him.

The head coach has now hinted that Aaronson will start at least one game in Leeds‘ upcoming three-game week.

Daniel Farke talks importance of ‘togetherness’ around Brenden Aaronson

Leeds have a very tough period of fixtures coming up, as if Aston Villa wasn’t difficult enough last time out.

After they play City, the Whites will take on Chelsea in mid-week, before facing Liverpool three days later.

Although Farke has acknowledged that Aaronson will not play every game in Leeds’ next three fixtures, he’s essentially all but confirmed that the American will start one of them if it’s not against City.

Farke said, as quoted by Adam Pope on X: “He’s had stick since his first day back here. We work together, win together and lose together.

“We never finger-point. Doesn’t mean he plays every game. I doubt he’ll play 90 mins three times this week.”

However, thankfully for Leeds supporters, the comments surely mean that they will see less of Aaronson, and may just have to put up with him one more time, with Farke’s future uncertain.

Dan James has to start over Aaronson

Dan James was benched against Villa with Farke opting to play Aaronson on the right wing instead, bizarrely.

It’s not yet known what formation that the German will go for to face Pep Guardiola’s side, and it could even be a 5-3-2, which would put James’ involvement at risk.

Either way, if Farke would like to keep his job, then it would perhaps be in his best interests to start James.

But given his stubbornness, it would be no surprise to see Aaronson in the lineup come matchday.

The only positive if he is included is that Farke may decide to drop the attacker for what should be seen as more winnable games coming up at Elland Road.
