Dan James shows why he’s Leeds fan favourite with footage at Fratton Park

Dan James showed his wholesome side before Leeds United lost to Portsmouth with footage of him emerging on social media.

Leeds met Pompey at Fratton Park in a Sunday lunchtime clash (9 March), as they looked to seize the chance to further their ground atop the Championship table but were beaten 1-0 from Colby Bishop’s decisive goal.

James has been instrumental in the recent run under Daniel Farke in a bid to return to the Premier League, as Leeds fans filled the Portsmouth away end despite the early rearranged kick-off time.

James shares moment with Leeds United fans

James can be praised as one of the only Leeds United players to stop and sign some autographs before the Whites took on Portsmouth on the South Coast.

As seen in a video posted by Leeds Live’s Isaac Johnson on X (9 March), the Welsh wing wizard signed a handful of products after stepping off the coach to enter the away dressing room at Fratton Park.

The travelling fans – many of whom are making round trips of around 500 miles for a Sunday midday Leeds kick-off in Portsmouth – deserved at least a few more of the squad to stop for a matter of moments to make their children’s day.

James has been excellent this season, with 19 goal contributions including 10 goals heading into the showdown at Fratton Park.

Farke and Leeds are seeking match-winners to see through their promotion bid, and the likes of James and his forward teammates have done exactly that in recent weeks and months.

Farke assesses promotion bid after Portsmouth

Leeds remain in the driving seat for promotion by virtue of their previous results, and will be looking to return to their best after the Portsmouth clash.

The strength in depth Farke possesses should be a huge advantage for the Whites, who remain inside the automatic spots with Sheffield United and Burnley in hot pursuit.

Each promotion competitor has their own unique strength, meaning if Leeds aren’t careful the race could go down to the wire.

Farke will be having nightmares from last season right up until he gets the job done this time around, with many players destined for Premier League football either with or without Leeds at this rate.

It’s back to Elland Road in 72 hours’ time for a response, with Millwall the visitors to West Yorkshire following their win on the road at Watford on Saturday (8 March).
