Dan James injury scare may have disappeared as new Leeds announcement emerges

Leeds United have not have suffered another blow with Dan James after all.

Leeds United picked up a point in a 2-2 draw against Bournemouth at the weekend, with one more game to be played before yet another international break.

Leeds host Tottenham this Saturday, with hopes of ending the current period on a high, having already picked up eight points in the Premier League.

However, their chances of doing so may hinge on a Leeds update surrounding James after developments on Tuesday morning.

Dan James called up to Wales squad for October break

Early on Tuesday morning, news of an injury to James at Leeds emerged from Thorp Arch, with the initial diagnosis spelling bad news.

Adam Pope reported that the Welshman could be out for “a long time” after suffering an injury in training ahead of the Elland Road encounter with Tottenham.

However, since then, Leeds have announced via X that the Welshman has been called up by his country to feature in the upcoming international break, alongside Karl Darlow and Joe Rodon, who impressed against Bournemouth.

The announcement suggests that the injury, if there ever even was one, was far less serious than anticipated, though that may not be the case.

As always with these situations, Leeds will be expected to clarify in the next few days, with Daniel Farke set to face the press on Thursday afternoon.

Leeds need Dan James, even if he isn’t starting

James has struggled in the Premier League, but his pace is a massive asset, especially to a newly-promoted side like Leeds.

Even having him as an option is crucial, and with Willy Gnonto also being sidelined at Leeds, Farke does not have too many options in the wide areas.

If there is an injury, the hope will be that it is a minor one, and with two weeks until the next fixture after the Spurs clash, he will have time to recover, having only just come back from a setback recently.
