Crysencio Summerville must be cautious in next four Leeds United matches as suspension looms
Leeds United are flying in the Championship with Daniel Farke’s side looking to bridge the gap between them and the automatic promotion places.
Friday night’s (3 November) win over Leicester City was quite possibly the Whites’ biggest result yet as they managed to snatch three points from the Championship leaders at the King Power Stadium as Georginio Rutter scored the only goal in the match.
But one man who didn’t have the best of matches against the Foxes was Crysencio Summerville who struggled to impact proceedings, with his only main involvement against Enzo Maresca’s side a booking that he picked up late in the contest.

The Dutchman was booked in the 88th minute following an altercation with Hamza Choudhury in what was his fourth caution of the campaign [Leeds Live, 6 November], meaning that he is now walking a tightrope with one more booking leading to the winger receiving a one-match suspension.
Players in the Championship receive suspensions should they pick up five yellow cards in the opening 19 games of the season, so Summerville must avoid a caution in the next four matches to dodge a one-game ban at Elland Road.
The 22-year-old has been in inspired form over the last few weeks, with the Dutchman registering eight goal contributions throughout October, including two braces against Huddersfield Town and Norwich City following the international break.
It would be a huge blow to Farke’s side should they lose Summerville for a match due to an accumulation of yellow cards, but part of what makes him such an excellent winger is the work that he completed defensively alongside his attacking exploits.
The German won’t be keen to tell his winger to stop getting stuck in defensively, but may well tell him to be a bit more cautious when entering tackles over the next few matches to ensure that he can dodge the suspension.

Luckily for Leeds United, they have plenty of depth in the wide areas, with the likes of Wilfried Gnonto and Jaidon Anthony currently rooted to the bench as Summerville and Dan James continue to impress week in and week out in England’s second tier.
Should Summerville be booked in the next four matches, it could present the perfect opportunity for one of the other wingers in the Whites’ squad to stake their claim for a starting position.
That should provide the Dutchman with enough motivation to avoid another yellow card, just to ensure he doesn’t fall down the pecking order at Elland Road.
