Crysencio Summerville has surely played his last Leeds United game amid reports pre-playoff final
Leeds United will be left counting the cost of their playoff final defeat to Southampton in the coming weeks.
A season that promised so much ended in bitter disappointment at Wembley as Adam Armstrong’s first half effort settled Sunday’s (26 May) at Wembley.
It was reported by the Daily Mail (16 May) that Leeds will have to generate around £100million through player sales to try and balance the books at Elland Road.
And, if that figure is even anywhere close to being right, then it surely must mean the end of the road for Crysencio Summerville – the Championship Player of the Year.
Will Crysencio Summerville leave Leeds United this summer?
The 22-year-old Dutch forward enjoyed a fine campaign on a personal level, contributing 21 goals and 10 assists across all competitions.
His fantastic form has long-since seen him linked with a summer exit and a report from 90min.com before the playoff final (24 May) suggested that Liverpool fancy taking him to Anfield.
Their new boss Arne Slot is said to be a long-term admirer but even if the Reds don’t press ahead and make a move, you feel that the mix of Leeds probably needing to sell some assets and Summerville’s excellent Championship performances means a move is inevitable.
The sad thing is that it ended with a bit of a whimper for Summerville. He failed to have a shot on target, though he did have two off target and a further two blocked (SofaScore).
It accounted for an expected goals return of just 0.19. His expected assists was even worse (0.07), while he attempted just one dribble that was not successful.
He won only two of eight ground duels and lost possession on 15 occasions. Two of his four crosses were successful but his pass-completion rate (64 per cent) left a lot to be desired.

Such was his struggles that Daniel Farke took off his star man in the 74th minute with Jaidon Anthony – another player who faces an uncertain future given his loan spell at Bournemouth is at an end – taking his place.
The next few days should offer a little clarity around the level of damage missing out on promotion will cause Leeds but one thing seems certain, Summerville is unlikely to be around for the next crack at getting back to the Premier League.
