MOT View: Leeds could miss out on 19y/o after report on likely suitors

After a teasing social media post by Eddie Nketiah recently, many Leeds United fans had new hope that he would remain at Elland Road past January.

However, the Arsenal loanee has struggled for game time in the first team after his injury – something which has led to him getting more minutes with the under-23s. And he hasn’t looked that good for them.

It was reported by the Daily Mail that the Gunners are ready to pull the plug on his loan deal in West Yorkshire and look to send him elsewhere.

Should that happen, Leeds will need to look elsewhere for reinforcements in January, with Liverpool forward Rhian Brewster being named as a possible option.

The Mirror reported that the Whites had entered the hunt for the 19-year-old alongside the likes of Aston Villa and Swansea City.

The Daily Express has reported that Swansea are in fact the most likely destination for the Reds forward, who will be allowed to leave Anfield on loan in January by Jurgen Klopp.

It is suggested that Crystal Palace also remain in the race with Leeds, but that Wales remains his most possible destination ahead of the two other clubs.

That would be a massive blow for us should Nketiah return to the Emirates Stadium, and would put a big amount of pressure on Victor Orta to pull something out of the bag in a window he admittedly doesn’t like.

Brewster would most likely stand more chance of earning minutes at Swansea. The Welsh side are starting to struggle after a strong start, and that could be a gamechanger in negotiations.

With that report, Leeds could be set to miss out on the 19-year-old in January, but there are a couple of things that could change his mind.

Surely, the Reds youngster would prefer the chance to come to Leeds? A side top of the Championship and managed by Marcelo Bielsa – an opportunity too good to turn down for some.
