‘Buendia can join Leeds for £20m’ as cut-price Aston Villa exit claim made

Emi Buendia could be available on a cut-price fee for Leeds United this summer.

The Argentine has already been linked with an Elland Road switch, in a deal which could be edging closer to completion after promotion.

With the transfer window now open, efforts could be set to step up from Daniel Farke to link up with the former Norwich City star.

The German head coach now looks to have been handed a great opportunity to sign Buendia after a price tag was put forward at Villa Park.

Buendia price tag mooted for Leeds United

There will be a need for Premier League experience in the Whites’ squad as they prepare to move up to the top division after two years away.

This is especially the case in attacking areas, with Brenden Aaronson representing the main number 10 in LS11, with just 36 top-tier English games behind him.

As a result, the addition of the Villa star could prove to be excellent, despite a difficult few years on the fringes in claret and blue.

That could now play into the hands of Leeds United with Buendia, as a move for the attacking midfielder could now be taking a step closer.

This comes after former manager Martin Allen told Villa News (17 June) that Unai Emery’s side could accept as little as £20m for his signature.

He said: “It goes without saying that Villa have got to get the maximum fee out of him, as they do in every deal. He’s done well, so they’ve got to try and work with that.

“I think if they get £20m for him, they’ll be really happy, but they’ll try and push towards £30m. It would definitely be a good signing for Leeds because it’s so hard to score goals coming up to the Premier League.

“You need to take a chance on a player who could get 10 goals. It’s a big jump from the Championship, as we’ve seen, so that would be a good move for Leeds, I reckon.”

Buendia could shine for Leeds United

There is no shortage of flair and trickery in the Whites’ squad right now, which helped separate them from the rest of the league.

This saw the likes of Joel Piroe shine, while Wilfried Gnonto, Dan James and Manor Solomon were able to showcase their qualities.

As positive as they could prove to be after promotion, the raw talent and experience of Buendia could prove to be a point of difference.

The 28-year-old is technically excellent on the ball and certainly has an eye for creativity, which makes him capable of something special.

That, tied in with a Farke reunion, could represent a real coup at Elland Road, especially for a fee as little as £20m in today’s day and age.
