Brenden Aaronson must be axed v Bristol City so Farke can prove point to Leeds

Daniel Farke has achieved his aims with Leeds United, securing promotion back to the Premier League.

The 49ers stuck with the boss after play-off heartbreak last season, which has paid off as a return to the top was confirmed after a 6-0 thrashing of Stoke City.

The Premier League is no easy task, though, with all three promoted sides getting relegated straightaway once more, meaning there is plenty of work to be done in West Yorkshire.

Leeds future uncertain for Farke

Farke has taken his side to automatic promotion and the Whites can still secure top spot to go up as champions with two games left to play.

Farke improved on his squad from last term and has regained top-flight status for the Elland Road outfit at the second time of asking.

Although his side had a dip in form of late, the boss showed his ability to make big decisions, notably dropping Illan Meslier for Karl Darlow, as his side found their form once more.

Nevertheless, the German’s previous Premier League form has caused some anxiety and now it has been reported that the owners are considering parting ways with Farke ahead of the Premier League return.

The potential move has divided opinion, with it being branded as “harsh”, despite Leeds knowing the importance of staying up next season.

With that in mind, while promotion is no longer at stake, Farke has something to prove in his final games of the season.

Farke has to axe Brenden Aaronson against Bristol City

If Farke does remain in his post at Elland Road, it will be a big summer for the boss with plenty of decisions to be made about who is ready for Premier League action and which players will need to be left behind.

The boss has shown his ability to be ruthless before and going into the game against Bristol City, he needs to prove that once more by dropping Brenden Aaronson.

The American has failed to show his best levels for some time, although the boss seems happy for him to remain in the starting line-up.

The attacker has made 44 Championship appearances this season, but goal contributions are sparse, with nothing in five games.

Although the Whites showed Stoke exactly what they were made of with a 6-0 win on Easter Monday, it was another disappointing performance for Aaronson.

The 24-year-old created one chance in the game and was guilty of missing his one big opportunity [FotMob].

Aaronson was disappointing once again.

On an afternoon when his side ran riot, Aaronson completed just two passes into the final third while having a 0 per cent success rate for accurate crosses or long balls, showing he did little to assist his side’s efforts.

Farke use the last two games of the season to show why he is deserving of getting the opportunity to lead Leeds forward and Bristol City will be no pushovers in their play-off pursuit.

Therefore, the boss has to be prepared to make the big calls and finally putting Aaronson on the bench could be the change his side needs.
