Bogusz set for key 19/20 role

The next Leeds wonderkid to make the step up to the first-team is going to be Mateusz Bogusz, according to Football Insider.

The site claims the 17-year-old has impressed Marcelo Bielsa hugely in pre-season and since joining the club in January.

Bogusz said when he joined that he would be training with the first-team and that’s proved true, with the youngster making the bench for the final few games of last season.

Football Insider says Bogusz has made a “huge impression” on Bielsa and is likely to be fast-tracked into the first-team in the same way as Jack Clarke and Jamie Shackleton, with claims that he could play up to 20 games next season.

Shackleton is also expected to star next season, along with Jack Clarke who is back on loan after sealing a summer move to Tottenham. That’s some serious success from young players and proves what a good job Bielsa, Victor Orta and Carlos Corberan are doing behind the scenes.

Mateusz impressed in the pre-season games against Western Sydney Wanderers and Cagliari, playing 84 minutes in the former and scoring an impressive goal.

Jack Harrison picked the ball up on the left and beat a man before cutting in and pulling the ball back to Bogusz on the edge of the area who rifled it into the top corner.

Leeds were short of players who could score goals last season and Bogusz looks full of confidence and raring to go. He offers versatility as well, able to play in midfield or a more advanced number 10 role.

Bielsa isn’t scared of using youngsters – albeit sparingly – and it seems that Leeds fans are set to see whole lot more of this Polish 17-year-old next season.
