Barcelona make new Roony Bardghji announcement amid Leeds United links
Roony Bardghji has been a target for Leeds United.
Survival is already looking likely for Leeds this season, though Daniel Farke will not rest until his side have mathematically secured their spot in the Premier League for another campaign.
To do that, the Whites are on the hunt for January reinforcements, with an emphasis on improving the attacking options at their disposal.
MOT Leeds News reported that Bardghji was a target for Leeds this month, and the latest announcement showcases where that transfer stands.
Leeds learn Roony Bardghji transfer fate
Bardghji was once the most highly-rated winger in the world, but his move to Barcelona brought very little success, at least to begin with.
Despite joining in the summer, the 20-year-old has started just three La Liga encounters, having made just 14 appearances all season.
However, not long after Leeds made an approach to sign Bardghji on loan, he started getting a taste for more gametime, and he has taken that in his stride.
The Sweden international scored and assisted two in his previous outing for Barcelona, having also registered a goal and an assist against Real Betis in December.
Now, Barcelona have announced Bardghji’s first-team registration, making it highly unlikely they will be allowing him to leave this month.
Bardghji will wear number 19 for the La Liga powerhouses and will rival Lamine Yamal for a starting place for the rest of the campaign.
Who else have Leeds been linked with in January?
As it stands, it appears nothing is imminent at Elland Road, though Leeds have been heavily linked with Joe Willock from Newcastle United.
The former Arsenal star has had gametime restricted under Eddie Howe this season, and may jump at the chance to get first-team football elsewhere.
Danilho Doekhi is another target for Farke, though with Joe Rodon now back from injury, it remains to be seen how much they need another centre back.
That decision may hinge on the future of Sebastian Bornauw, who has been mooted for a move to FC Koln in the Bundesliga.
It seems likely that any business may come towards the latter stages of the window.
