Bamford will be out of Leeds in no time after what he did in Thursday friendly

Patrick Bamford is still contracted to Leeds United.

Leeds United still have business to do this summer in terms of incomings, though it can’t be forgotten how much work is left to do on the exit front.

Several players could move on from Elland Road, including Bamford, who has already been informed that he is not in Daniel Farke’s plans for the new campaign.

With that in mind, efforts to get him out of the door may have just been accelerated after what he did in a friendly against Lyn 1896.

Leeds Under-21s thrash Lyn 1896 in friendly

While Leeds have been preparing for life back in the Premier League, several fringe players have been forced to play with the Under-21s in an attempt to secure an exit.

Bamford, Sam Greenwood and Joe Gelhardt fall into that category, with the Leeds trio on the score sheet in a 10-2 victory against Lyn 1896 on Thursday (31 July).

From Leeds’ perspective, Bamford having to play at this level will be a major concern given his high wages and cost to the club, though it may serve as a benefit.

If he can keep himself fit in pre-season, sides will be more likely to pursue a deal off the back of that, with an exit almost certainly nailed on.

Where could Bamford go after Leeds exit?

Purely based on experience, Bamford will have suitors, though much of it will depend on his wage demands in the next few weeks.

Wrexham and Burnley are two of the sides to have been mooted as a potential landing spot for the striker, though the latter seems highly unlikely given their situation in the Premier League.

Either way, for both player and club, it is crucial that this saga is resolved as a matter of urgency, with all parties in need of a fresh start this summer.
