Ao Tanaka has made Farke look silly after what he’s done for Leeds United

Daniel Farke has been made to look silly for not wanting Ao Tanaka at Leeds United after his early season form.

The Japan international completed a move to Elland Road during the summer in a deal worth a bargain £3.3million from Dusseldorf [Yorkshire Evening Post].

The 26-year-old has proved to be an integral member of the Whites’ squad since signing after injuries to Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev earlier in the campaign.

Since becoming a first-team regular, Tanaka has made his manager look silly after not wanting to sign the midfielder in the last window.

The former Kawasaki Frontale star was never the first-choice option for the German boss during the summer which led to disagreements between the club and manager [Rheinische Post].

Bids were rejected for other targets which resulted in Leeds making a move to sign the Japanese ace before deadline day.

This has proved to be a wise decision given how positive his form has been since moving to the Championship from Germany.

For such a nominal fee as £3.3m, Tanaka has shown plenty of class and quality which has allowed Leeds to cope without their two main midfield options.

Even when Ampadu and Gruev make their long-awaited return, it won’t be a simple choice for them to displace the Japan international given how good he has been.

Farke has been made to look quite silly for not wanting the midfielder given that he now feels like one of the first names on the team sheet.
