Brenden Aaronson could be on his way out of Leeds United this summer.

Leeds have made plenty of progress ahead of their return to the Premier League, and a lot of the work between now and the beginning of the season will be focused on securing moves for those who are unlikely to be in Daniel Farke's plans.

Patrick Bamford has already been informed that he is one of them, while there are several others who could be deemed surplus to requirements in the coming weeks.

One of those could be USMNT international Aaronson, after a new transfer was announced at Elland Road.

Anton Stach arrival could spell the end of Aaronson

Leeds announced the arrival of Anton Stach on Tuesday (22 July), with the German becoming the Whites' sixth signing of the summer, and second midfield addition.

He follows Sean Longstaff through the door at Elland Road, both of whom will be deemed as better than those currently at the club.

However, with Ao Tanaka, Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev to compete, the arrival of Stach could suggest that Farke is looking to beef up his midfield, and potentially play without an attacking midfielder, which is where Aaronson plays.

Having already struggled in the Premier League before, Farke may be having reservations over the 24-year-old's ability to contribute next season, and may well be actively seeking an exit route for the midfielder.

Farke ready to transform Leeds

Playing with three deeper midfielders would be very different to the way Leeds set up last season, but it may be needed in the Premier League.

Leeds will see a lot less of the ball, and it will be crucial that they have bodies in the middle to subdue the pressure and threat posed.

The remaining pre-season games will undoubtedly paint a clearer picture as to how Leeds will set up in the top flight.
