’49ers questions to be asked at Leeds United’ as Bizot transfer hours away
Leeds United have been busy in the transfer market as they prepare for their return to the Premier League, but supporters have been left slightly underwhelmed by the signings to date.
Daniel Farke has made several signings that will improve the quality of his first-team squad.
However, it’s widely accepted that more recruitments are needed to give Leeds a fighting chance of avoiding relegation.
Leeds have missed out on some key targets, leading fans to question the competency of their recruitment team.
And it looks like they may be about to happen again.

Leeds set to miss out on Brest goalkeeper Bizot
Farke is hunting for a new number one goalkeeper but has missed out on a handful of his main targets.
The German was supposedly an admirer of Scottish goalkeeper Angus Gunn, but he looks set to move to a Saudi Arabian club. His pursuit of Serbian goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic has also seemingly failed.
L’Equipe (10 July) reports that Farke turned his attention to Brest goalkeeper Marco Bizot. The Dutch stopper attracted a lot of attention during Brest’s run in the Champions League last year, and it’s thought he’s keen on a move to the Premier League, with Leeds in the running.
However, it looks like Leeds are going to miss out again. Foot Mercato (11 July) claims that Bizot is hours away from finalising a move to Aston Villa.

The 49ers have been a blessing for Leeds United
For every club, there will always be supporters complaining about the team, the manager, the owners or all of the above.
In some situations, perhaps it has been worth questioning the decisions made by Leeds’ recruitment team.
Overall though, 49ers Enterprises have been a force for good since completing their takeover of Leeds.
Some smart decisions have been made in the transfer market, for both purchases and sales of players.
Player | Bought from | Fee |
Gabriel Gudmundsson | Lille | £10m |
Sebastiaan Bornauw | Wolfsburg | £5.1m |
Jaka Bijol | Udinese | Undisclosed |
Lukas Nmecha | Wolfsburg | Free |
Not every attempted transfer will be a winner, especially when you’re a promoted side trying to establish itself in the Premier League.
However, most would agree that Leeds have started the transfer window very well, and the 49ers deserve credit for the investment they’ve made so far this summer.
A goalkeeper is next on the shopping list, while Farke could still do with some extra star quality in both defence and attack.
