49ers idiocy on full display at Leeds if what’s being said about Jaka Bijol’s future is true

Jaka Bijol has been one of Leeds United’s best summer signings.

Daniel Farke is helping steer Leeds away from the relegation zone, and another three points against Fulham on Saturday boosted his side with even more confidence.

The German head coach has been able to get the best out of his defenders in a three-at-the-back formation, with Bijol being a standout performer.

Though he wasn’t available to play for Fulham, the Whites are clearly building their current success from the back, and stripping Bijol away from that would be detrimental.

This is why the 49ers will now rightly come under the microscope.

Something isn’t adding up about Fiorentina’s links to Jaka Bijol

Fiorentina are surprisingly interested in signing Bijol, despite the Italian side hovering just above Serie A’s relegation zone due to goal difference.

The transfer news comes after Leeds allowed Jack Harrison to join Fiorentina on loan with a permanent buy option worth £6million.

There have been no suggestions to say that the 49ers would block Bijol’s exit yet, as Paraag Marathe and Co. may have already formed a relationship with Fiorentina’s hierarchy.

Leeds spent around £15million for Bijol when buying him from Udinese a couple of months ago, and if the 49ers were even considering his sale, then they need to look themselves in the mirror.

The Whites were forced to play James Justin at centre-back against Fulham on the weekend, and it just goes to show how light Farke’s backline already is in terms of numbers.

PSR concerns may also moot Bijol sale

Leeds announced the signing of Facundo Buonanotte from Brighton last week after the Seagulls cut the Argentine’s loan deal short.

The Whites now have Buonanotte until the end of the campaign, but so far, it’s only Farke’s second new signing.

There were reports that Leeds would only be able to spend as much as they sold in the January window, and that now seems to be the case.

Leeds’ up-to-date transfer business:

Bijol’s exit would surely generate profit and alleviate pressure from the Profit and Sustainability Rules that are restricting the Whites from progressing on other transfers.

However, the 49ers still need to take into account the importance of the Slovenian defender to Farke and put their foot down on a sale.
