49ers handed green light for summer spree at Leeds United after £90m cash influx update
Leeds United will get a portion of the Premier League’s suggested improved £90million per year TV deal with ESPN.
That’s according to the Yorkshire Evening Post on Thursday, as the importance of the Whites staying up has now been intensified.
The reported new deal is worth £450million in total, an overall 25 per cent boost on the previous contract, as the 49ers were recently informed of the news and how they will get a multi-million-pound cut of the revenue.
Everyone at Elland Road knows the financial benefits that come with being a top-flight team, but not many clubs are in need of the cash as much as Leeds are.
Daniel Farke may have been left frustrated by the Whites’ winter dealings, but that could now all change this summer.

49ers to make things up to Daniel Farke this summer
Leeds have been under constraints from Profit and Sustainability Rules for a while now, and Paraag Marathe and Co. had to tiptoe their way about business in the winter window.
The Whites lodged a £33million attempt for Jorgen Strand Larsen, despite knowing the financial pressure that would have mounted from the deal. However, the deal could have been seen as one that guaranteed their survival in the Premier League.
It’s not clear how much Leeds could earn from the Premier League’s new £90m boost, but the numbers are suggested to be a big bonus for the 49ers, should the Whites remain in the division.

Leeds have already started to outline their summer plans, and it’s known that if the Whites can stay up, they will then push their limits in the summer to improve.
Not only that, but Farke will most likely let the likes of Joel Piroe, Illan Meslier, and Wilfried Gnonto leave in a couple of months, who will all add money to the Marathe’s pockets.
Who is Leeds’ most realistic transfer target right now?
Leeds’ interest of Middlesbrough’s Hayden Hackney is strong, but there may be concerns over the midfielder’s desire to make the switch to LS11 due to his loyalty to Boro.
However, Harvey Elliott seems like a transfer target who could make sense from both a footballing and financial standpoint.
- Elliott is on loan at Aston Villa from Liverpool
- The Villans have a £35million obligation to buy the attacking midfielder
- He has to play 10 games for Unai Emery for the clause to be triggered
The Whites are interested in signing Elliott, who could be available for a cut-price deal. This is because the Englishman has rarely featured for Unai Emery this season, and his £35million price tag will have lowered.
Considering the Liverpool loanee’s high ceiling, it would make sense for the Whites to go all in for him, with Facundo Buonanotte’s deal expiring in the summer.
It was said that Leeds may not be able to afford Elliott in recent weeks, but the cash boost could help the 49ers get a deal over the line.
