49ers Enterprises signal bright new era at Leeds United as club gear up for behind-scenes arrival

49ers Enterprises could well be signalling a bright new era at Leeds United as the club gears up for a brand-new and crucial arrival behind the scenes at Elland Road.

According to Leeds Live, reporting on 9 December, the Whites are in the home stretch of their swoop for a brand-new head of recruitment.

The West Yorkshire news outlet (9 December) shared that Aberdeen’s Jordan Miles is emerging as the top candidate for the role and could now be set for a swift return to English football where he previously worked at West Ham.

Daily Record reported on 7 December that the Whites are targeting a move for the recruitment specialist before the January transfer window opens and it now looks as if the Whites are in the final stages with an appointment expected in “the near future”.

Leeds Live also shared that should an agreement with Miles be reached, he would report to technical director Gretar Steinsson and form a part of the player identification strategy being deployed.

Collaboration with interim football advisor Nick Hammond and manager Daniel Farke is also expected behind the scenes to improve the club’s work over recruitment.

This news will come with a lot of excitement for Leeds fans with the club hell-bent on continuing the remarkable progress made under Farke and ushering in a bright new era behind the scenes and on the pitch.

Daniel Farke

The German has worked wonders already, with the Whites now strong contenders in the Championship promotion race, winning 13 of his 22 games in charge and forming an exciting squad despite the number of departures over the summer and the short period needed to construct a squad.

The business behind the scenes at the club over the last few years have fallen considerably, especially in terms of recruitment.

Ahead of last season, Leeds United spent so much as £169 million [Transfermarkt] on players like Marc Roca, Brenden Aaronson, Rasmus Kristensen, Georginio Rutter, Tyler Adams and Max Wober will many of those players ultimately costing the club’s place in the Premier League and then jumping ship soon afterwards.

Something certainly had to change which is now being addressed by the club’s owners.

With Leeds United aiming to move fast on their expected new appointment, it seems the club may be gearing up for a busy January transfer window with a couple more additions which could aid Farke’s promotion ambitions.

However, it’s the long-term strategic thinking that will be vitally important and an area in which their new appointment could well be crucial in, identifying young exciting talents who fit the Elland Road mould but can also aid the club financially in the long term.

Ultimately, the Whites will be planning for an extended stay in the Premier League and recruitment is a massive part of that ambition so the planning must start now for which Miles or anyone else for that matter will be pivotal.

Farke himself will be hoping to improve his Premier League fortunes upon his return to the promised land soon.

Much of his struggles at Norwich City in the English top flight was down to the lack of quality and experience he possessed in his squads which meant they struggled to compete and ultimately suffered relegation back to the Championship.

The German tactician will be hell-bent on correcting that in West Yorkshire but also help the 49ers in their ambition of making the Whites a £1billion football club [The Athletic].

It’s certainly refreshing to see Leeds United have a keen eye on excelling both in the short-term and long-term with this prospective appointment.
