49ers Enterprises risk angering Daniel Farke as ‘ambitious’ Leeds United transfer claim emerges
As the halfway mark of the January transfer window approaches, so far the incoming door at Elland Road remains untouched as Leeds United wait for their first new arrival.
Two senior players have already made way, with Djed Spence returning to Tottenham Hotspur and Luke Ayling completing an initial loan switch to Championship rivals Middlesbrough for the remainder of the campaign.
More players could be set to depart, with Charlie Cresswell and Joe Gelhardt the subject of constant transfer speculation as they are linked with temporary and permanent moves away from Elland Road.

But after a summer that saw immense turnover under the management of Farke, Leeds are yet to make a concrete move for a new signing after 15 days of the window.
Farke has repeatedly insisted that he is happy with the squad at his disposal and his side put in an excellent performance against Cardiff to show that they are capable of challenging for the automatic promotion places in the Championship.
However, the German did admit that adding to his squad in one or two areas would be necessary if Leeds United want to remain “ambitious” this season, in what felt like a bit of a message to those in charge at Elland Road.
As quoted by Leeds Live (15 January) he said: “We won’t fall asleep until the end of the window and, at the moment, everyone can see it would be perhaps beneficial if in one or two positions we would have some additions if we want to stay ambitious.
“At the moment, I work with what I’ve got and I’m pretty pleased all the players buy so much into it at the moment who are available and delivering such great performances.”

Farke’s comment suggests that everybody at Elland Road is in agreement that a couple of new signings wouldn’t go a miss, but for whatever reason, such transfers have not come to fruition in the opening weeks of the transfer window.
If Leeds owners, 49ers Enterprises, don’t match the ambition of Farke and those around him in the Whites set-up and help him add to this squad before the end of the window, they could risk frustrating the German as he looks to win promotion back to the Premier League.
While things are going well on the pitch, this likely will not be an issue. However, should Leeds suffer a dip in form similar to that experienced over the festive period, the lack of transfer activity could become a contentious point.
Hopefully, Farke’s latest call for reinforcements will act as a spur to kick the Whites’ incoming transfer business into action this month.
