’49ers Enterprises deserve credit as Leeds finalise dream Farke transfer’

Leeds United are strengthening their squad well with reinforcements as they prepare to return to the Premier League.

Daniel Farke has been handed four summer signings so far, in Jaka Bijol, Sebastiaan Bornauw, Lukas Nmecha and Gabriel Gudmundsson, with more set to follow.

Leeds confirmed the arrival of Gudmundsson after weeks of negotiations, with the Lille star replacing Junior Firpo at left-back.

Fans were initially concerned as the window started off slowly, but Leeds owners 49ers Enterprises now deserve credit after a productive few weeks in the transfer market.

Leeds land first-choice defensive signings

There was speculation over Farke’s future at the end of last season, but 49ers Enterprises chairman Paraag Marathe shut down the idea of Leeds replacing their manager.

There was an acceptance that if Leeds are to stay in the Premier League, they would need to back Farke with signings to raise the level of the squad.

Gudmundsson has now joined in a high-profile deal to replace Firpo, and 49ers Enterprises now deserve praise for completing the deal.

The Yorkshire Evening Post (July 8) have now reported that both Gudmundsson and Bijol were the club’s first-choice defensive signings, rather than alternative targets.

49ers to back Farke with more signings

Farke has been given the vote of approval by 49ers Enterprises, and he has now been given funding to reinforce his team, with Sean Longstaff potentially the next player set to join.

If Leeds strengthen in all the necessary areas, including goalkeeper and striker, then they will back themselves to beat the drop, and Farke may find himself under pressure to deliver results as he cannot then hide behind the quality of his squad.

The 49ers clearly envision Leeds as a stable Premier League side, but this season will be hugely important as they aim to stay up, and the owners’ ambitions are becoming clearer as they are backing their manager with the signings he desires.

Leeds are set to return to pre-season training imminently, and more new arrivals will join the squad as the owners have put their foot down and done what is required to build a top division side.
