Daniel Farke is expected to sign a new contract with Leeds United in the coming weeks.

Farke's existing deal at Elland Road is due to expire at the end of the season.

Speculation has been rife about the German signing an extension with the Yorkshire giants.

However, despite the international break seeming like a perfect chance to get Farke sat down to sign a new deal, and then announce it, no official developments have emerged.

In just over a week, Leeds will return to Premier League action against Arsenal.

And despite domestic football returning, Farke is being tipped to pen his new contract.

When Daniel Farke is expected to sign his new contract

According to former Leeds manager Simon Grayson, the only reason Farke hasn't spoken much publicly about his personal situation is because he doesn't want to offer a distraction ahead of matches.

However, with fans twitching over the protracted nature of the speculation - and the lack of an expected announcement during the first week and a half of the international break - Grayson believes it's just a matter of time before official confirmation is made.

"I think he (Farke) has dismissed a lot of it because when there have been the games, like there has, he doesn't want to take anything away from the preparations for the team. I'll be surprised if something doesn't happen in this next couple of weeks with it all," BBC Radio Leeds pundit Grayson told Leeds Live.

"I think he wants to stay, the club want him to stay, so I'd be very surprised if something doesn't happen very soon."

What Leeds have officially said about Farke's situation

Just because there's not been a new contract announced, doesn't mean that Leeds have stayed quiet on the subject.

Leeds' managing director Robbie Evans said in September that positive talks have been held with Farke, who's done a "fantastic job".

"Unlike signing him back in 2023, or doing a deadline day deal, the time pressure is far reduced. We have time to get it right as far as what he wants and what we want. I don't feel it is taking a long time," said Evans last month

"As long as we are still operating together as a group - and we are doing great on that front - I'm not worried.

"The short answer is that he has done great. We want him to be here long-term and we are working on it."

Evans' update was essentially this: Leeds want Farke to sign a new deal, talks are being held, it's all going well, there's no rush.

Unfortunately, a lot of fans these days want things to happen as quick as possible, so there will be some who are concerned about Farke's future at Elland Road.

There isn't any need to worry, though.

It's the start of October and it's still very early days in the season.

Many did think that something would happen during this international break but this isn't the only time of the year where a deal can be signed.
