YEP sources suggest chances of season ending, could see Leeds ‘almost certainly’ promoted
As each day passes, Leeds United fans keep seeing different suggestions and updates that could affect the end of the Championship season.
The Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Graham Smyth has revealed on Thursday that the Premier League is the only division that has a realistic chance of finishing this season.
It is suggested that three clubs could be relegated from the top-flight leaving three spots for clubs from the Championship to be promoted.
Smyth claimed that outcome could definitely secure promotion for Leeds, as any final outcome would see the Whites finish top.
“YEP sources suggest that the only season with a realistic chance of being played to a completion is the Premier League, which would mean three clubs would be relegated and replaced by three teams from the Championship,” he wrote.
“And no matter which model the EFL agree to use to determine the final tables and promotion places, current Championship leaders Leeds United would almost certainly go up.”
Many different outcomes have been suggested from it being declared null and void with no outcome, up to possibility promoting Leeds and West Brom and having five relegation spots next season in the Premier League.
With more than 80% of the season being played, Leeds are on the cusp of the Premier League and there would surely be legal action if it was taken away from the Whites.
