YEP journalist says who else will be allowed in Elland Rd on matchday other than players & staff
Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Graham Smyth has revealed that members of the press, like himself, will be allowed to watch Leeds United play at Elland Road.
The Championship season resumes next week with Leeds playing against Cardiff at the Cardiff City Stadium next Sunday.
Smyth, writing on his personal Twitter account, says that he is unsure if Leeds’ local press will be able to attend way matches but he will be allowed into the stadium when Marcelo Bielsa’s side are playing at Elland Road.
We’re jealous of Graham because we would all love to be able to watch Leeds win promotion back to the Premier League in the flesh at Elland Road.
Unfortunately, that cannot be the case due to the coronavirus pandemic and only a select number of people, outside of players and club staff, will be able to attend in person.
The EFL or the FA are likely to place a limit on how many people are allowed in a stadium at one time, which means that only those who work in the local media and are involved in the broadcast of matches will be allowed in.
We’re going to have to rely a lot on journalists like Smyth once the season restarts because other than what we see on television, there’s not much information we can gather.
It might not be easy for journalists to work there when social distancing rules are so strict and it remains to be seen if Bielsa will even hold press conferences or do television interviews before and after games.
In other Leeds United news, Premier League club fans are delighted that the Whites could sign this player from them.
