'Wow' - Sky Sports pundit awestruck by Leeds ace who makes him 'tired' watching

Emile Heskey has been blown away by the energy levels of Leeds United defender Luke Ayling in the Premier League this season.

The Sky Sports pundit admitted that just watching the Whites vice-captain makes him tired, with his non-stop running in games.

Ayling has been a mainstay this season and impressed in the heart of defence in the 3-0 win over Aston Villa last week.

Heskey has been left surprised by Leeds since their promotion to the Premier League, claiming teams can’t handle them at times.

“Ayling, he makes me tired watching him,” he told HITC.

“I’m out of breath when I see him going up and down and think wow, where’s he getting that energy from.

“You’ve got to take your hat off to Leeds. They were seriously on the front foot. I was very, very surprised but loved watching them and Villa just couldn’t deal with them.”

Ayling has become a real leader at Elland Road in the past year, stepping up on numerous occasions for his teammates.

It all started after the Nottingham Forest defeat last season when the defender put himself in front of the media to take the pressure off some of the younger players.

He doesn’t just do it off the pitch though, with his performance against Villa proving he can do it on there too. Ayling took the captain’s armband and stepped up in the heart of defence to replace Liam Cooper.

The 29-year-old kept the dangerous Ollie Watkins non-existent with ease, a player who has scored a hat-trick against Liverpool this season.

Ayling’s energy is infectious for the Whites, as he continues to get better and better as the competitions grows, vital for success at Elland Road.
