'Wow', 'God damn' – These Leeds fans react as photo of Marcelo Bielsa emerges

Leeds United fans know all about Marcelo Bielsa’s prowess as a manager.

Less is known about his playing career that started in 1975 when he played as a defender for Newell’s Old Boys.

He was described as having a ‘modest’ playing career but he retired at the age of just 25 to focus on becoming a manager.

However, an image of him from his time at Newell’s – a club he still has close ties with – has emerged that’s got plenty of Leeds fans talking.

The picture shows Bielsa in full kit and plenty of fans have queued up to declare him as good looking as he is now talented as a manager.

One fan said, “We should get promotion simply on the grounds that our manager was the best-looking human ever created” and we can’t argue with that. We can’t see the EFL deciding the Championship that way though, unfortunately.

Bielsa still suffers from back pain from his time as a player and that’s why he uses his infamous blue bucket, according to Guillem Balague.

He said on the BBC: “His intense walking during games and his moments of crouching down on what looks like a plastic bucket is his way of dealing with constant back pain that has not left him since his time as a player.”

His early retirement from playing has made him the man he is as a manager. And his journey has taken him from Argentina to Elland Road. And it could lead him to the Premier League next season.

Meanwhile, these Leeds fans are delighting in this vintage image of their man…
