‘Leeds would be perfect’ – These PL fans urge club to send youngster on loan to Elland Rd
A number of Manchester City fans want to see their young defender Luke Mbete join Leeds United on loan amid recent interest from the Whites.
According to The Athletic, Mbete has been earning admirers at both Elland Road and with Italian giants Juventus.
He was part of the City side that lifted the FA Youth Cup and has previously earned praise from first-team manager Pep Guardiola.
Mbete is highly rated at Manchester City and has been earmarked as one of the next young talents to try and make the breakthrough with Guardiola’s side.
However, with first-team football looking unlikely in the near future, these fans believe that a loan move could be a good option for Mbete.
Leeds United have been linked with moves for a number of different central defenders this month following a raft on injury problems at the back.
Chelsea’s Fikayo Tomori is among the defenders who have been linked with moves to Elland Road this month in the search of regular first-team football.
With Diego Llorente and Robin Koch both sidelined, Luke Ayling has been forced to play as a makeshift central defender in recent weeks.
The report does not specify whether Leeds’ interest would be for a permanent move or just as a short-term option, but these Manchester City fans would be eager to see their young star head to Leeds.
It is worth noting that Leeds would be unable to sign Mbete on loan this month as things stand, with Jack Harrison already at Elland Road on loan from the Premier League giants.
Premier League clubs are only permitted to have one player on loan from another domestic club at any one given time.
Should Harrison’s current loan deal be turned into a permanent deal this month, that could open the door for a potential move to bring in Mbete.
