Worst-case scenario detailed as Leeds United defender Sam Byram may be out for weeks – Injury Expert

We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Leeds United...

Leeds United defender Sam Byram may be ruled out for weeks if it is the worst-case scenario of the injury picked up, claims Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert noted that the Whites’ summer signing was taken off at half-time in the 4-1 win against Huddersfield Town on Saturday, 28 October.

While there’s no further word from the club apart from the fact that he was feeling muscle issues, he may still miss a few games.

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said about Byram:

“A player being taken off at half-time is always a cause for concern but then there were no further updates from the club.

Worst case scenario would be a muscle rupture but that looks highly unlikely to be the case.

“If it is, then he could be out for a few weeks.

Losing Byram would be a massive blow for Leeds as they do not have a recognised left-back to replace him in the playing eleven.

Junior Firpo is still reeling from an injury and even if fit, he’s unlikely to start right away as he’s lacking in match sharpness.

This would mean someone like Jamie Shackleton or Pascal Struijk being asked to play at left-back, and it remains to be seen what the official word from the club is.

In other Leeds United, the Whites may turn to signing a new left-back in January who’s a long-term target and the ideal Junior Firpo replacement.
