'Wish you were back', 'Can we re-sign him?' - Many Leeds fans praise 'class act' of former White

Many Leeds United fans have claimed they want the club to re-sign Pontus Jansson after the defender sent Whites fans a Christmas message.

Jansson left Leeds in 2019 and joined Championship side Brentford but he remains a popular figure amongst the Whites faithful.

Jansson wished fans of Leeds, Brentford and Malmo, another former side, a happy Christmas while saying he was looking forward to getting back on the pitch on Boxing Day.

On Twitter, Jansson said, “Finally back and can’t wait for Boxing Day! Merry Christmas to all Bees fans out there! @BrentfordFC And of course Malmö and Leeds as well!”

Jansson has been missing for Brentford after picking up an injury in early December.

Injured centre backs have been a running theme in Leeds’ season as Liam Cooper, Robin Koch and Diego Llorente have all missed games with knocks.

Plenty of Leeds fans would take Jansson back at Elland Road after he became a firm favourite in his three-year spell at the club. His passion was often unrivalled and he really gave his all whenever he stepped out onto the pitch.

This was evident as fans replied to his Christmas message with one Leeds fan saying they wanted the 29-year-old to start against Burnley on Sunday.

Others praised the ‘class’ of Jansson as he wished fans of his former clubs the best ahead of December 25.

What we would do to see Jansson in the White of Leeds again…

Here is how some Leeds fans reacted to Jansson’s Christmas message

We wish Jansson the best and hope that he will have the opportunity to face his former side the Premier League next season.
