Willy Gnonto well ahead of schedule and could make Leeds United debut v Aston Villa

Summer signing Willy Gnonto could reportedly make his Leeds United senior debut against Aston Villa on Sunday.

According to TEAMtalk, the 18-year-old is “well ahead of schedule” and in line to be involved in the Premier League clash.

Steven Gerrard’s men visit Elland Road for the game and the Leeds faithful could get their first glimpse of the Italy international who signed on transfer deadline day.

Excitement building

Gnonto was signed at the last minute but was far from a panic buy from Leeds on deadline day.

They had spoken about him previously and Jesse Marsch had even gone on record to confirm that he’s an admirer of the striker.

However, when moves for others in his position fell through, the club had no choice but to sign Gnonto as they needed some reinforcements.

We believe that the plan was always to sign the 18-year-old but not this summer but possibly a couple of years down the line.

The fact that he can play all across the front three makes him an automatic contender for a bench role as injuries happen at any time and if there’s one player who can replace three players, it makes sense to keep him as an option.

He’s also a full Italy international and even started in their recent game so it’s clear that he’s pretty good and hopefully, he can go on to achieve big things at Elland Road.

In other Leeds United news, an Elland Road-linked midfielder is now certain to leave his club in the coming weeks as a host of Premier League clubs are vying for his services.
