Willy Gnonto nowhere to be seen as Leeds United starting XI leaked v Norwich City
Wilfried Gnotno has not arrived with the rest of the Leeds United team for their Championship clash with Norwich City, according to Beren Cross.
The Leeds Live journalist reported via X on Wednesday (24 January) that the Italian international was nowhere to be seen as Daniel Farke’s side arrived at Elland Road for their clash at Elland Road, suggesting he will miss out through injury.
Farke had confirmed that the 20-year-old was a doubt for the match, having missed Sunday’s (21 January) win over Preston North End, but Gnonto has been repeatedly linked with a move away from the Whites during the January transfer window.
Big blow
It would have been a huge boost to Leeds United had Gnonto been fit and available to start Wednesday night’s clash, as the Italian looks likely to have a big impact on the Whites’ promotion push in the second half of teh season.
Hopeful, it won’t be too long until supporters can see him back in a Leeds shirt as Farke indicated in his press conference ahead of the meeting with Norwich that the Italian was closing in on a return to the matchday squad.
However, Gnonto’s absence will only add fuel to the fire suggesting that he could be on the move during the January window, especially after he missed games in the summer as he tried to force his way out of Elland Road following relegation.
Farke should be able to clear up why the 20-year-old is absent once the starting XI is confirmed by Leeds themselves and hopefully supporters will have a clearer idea of just what is happening at Elland Road.
In other Leeds United news, Farke may well have sent the 49ers a new January transfer ultimatum this month
